Who we are

Knowsley Library Service has five branches serving communities across the borough, as well as a dedicated School Library Service that is committed to providing a high quality resource loan service which responds to the curriculum and supports reading for pleasure. Whatever your reason for visiting - for information, learning or leisure - you will find our libraries have something of interest for you. Anybody can become a member of the library, at any age, and it is free to join.

What we do

At Knowsley Library Service, we endeavour to promote reading for pleasure and offer a broad selection of stock that appeal to a wide variety of audiences. We also host regular events, school talks, and a range of group activities for all ages. We have a variety of after school activities for children including Homework Clubs, Arts and Crafts and Coding Clubs, as well as opportunities to achieve Arts Award Discover and Explore qualifications.

Bringing culture to you

We are dedicated to bring arts and culture into the library and host a range of educational performances, providing young people with opportunities to be inspired and get creative. Keep an eye on our website for upcoming performances. At Prescot, Huyton and Kirkby branches you can also visit the Museum and Galleries. Prescot Museum reflects the historical significance of Knowsley, and Huyton and Kirkby Galleries are considered two of the best contemporary art galleries in the North West.
